Return on 12 months of added revenue vs total campaign spend.
Estimates only. Figures use average click-through rates by search position and assume steady traffic for 12 months. Rankings are never guaranteed and real results depend on competition, content and domain strength.
What the numbers assume
The calculator estimates extra organic clicks from a ranking move, then converts that traffic into revenue using your conversion rate and average value. Spend is monthly budget times campaign length. First-year ROI compares 12 months of added revenue with that total investment.
Traffic
Extra clicks = keyword volume × (target CTR − current CTR), using typical organic click-through rates by position.
Revenue
Extra conversions = extra clicks × conversion rate. Monthly revenue is conversions times value per lead or sale.
Payback
Payback is total campaign spend divided by extra monthly revenue. Negative ROI means the modelled uplift does not cover the investment in year one.
- How does this link building ROI calculator work?
- It models extra organic clicks from a ranking uplift, then applies your conversion rate and value per conversion. First-year ROI is 12 months of that added revenue minus total campaign spend.
- What click-through rates does it use?
- Average organic CTR by SERP position: 27% at #1, 15% at #2, 10% at #3, down to 1.5% at #10, 0.8% for positions 11–20, and 0.3% for 21 or unranked. Your real CTR will vary by SERP features and query type.
- Are these figures a ranking guarantee?
- No. The calculator is an estimate to help you size budget and payback. Actual results depend on competition, content quality, domain strength and how long rankings hold.
